Catalina Island is a remote Island located approximately 22 miles off of the Southern California Coast. Camping on Catalina Island can be logistically challenging but will definitely be a memorable and amazing adventure from your Catalina Island vacation.

Hermit Gulch campground is located in Avalon Canyon
Two Harbors and Parsons Landing campgrounds are at the West End of Catalina Island
Black Jack Campground is located 1600 feet above sea level at the center of Catalina Island
Little Harbor Campground is located on the windward side of Catalina Island
There are also several boat in campsites on the leeward side of Catalina Island

With so many Catalina Island Campsites, we will focus on Catalina Island Camping Little Harbor
There are 23 remote campsites at Little Harbor. All the sites at Little Harbor have running water and sun shades.
Kayak rentals are available at Little Harbor from Wet Spot Rentals by advance reservation. Rentals are for 24 hours, noon to noon with multiple day discounts. Little Harbor kayak reservations can be made online at Wet Spot Rentals
Transportation to Little Harbor must be planned in advance. From Avalon, there are taxis or a scheduled service from the Catalina Island Conservancy. From Two Harbors at this time the only option is hiking in. The 38 mile Trans Catalina Island Trail is becoming very popular and runs from Avalon to Parsons Landing. Gear haul from Avalon can be arranged through Catalina Backcountry. From Two Harbors the Two Harbors visitor center can help with gear haul.
While hiking and camping Catalina Island, please respect and keep your distance from wildlife. Buffalo are commonly seen on the trail and in camp. In the summer campers should also be aware of rattle snakes.
