COVID-19 Visitor Safety Precautions
The safety and well-being of our guests and staff has always been our top priority. We understand that many of you have concerns about COVID-19, traveling to the island and what precautions we are taking.
Below please find our re-opening guidelines:
If you are feeling ill, or displaying any symptoms linked to COVID-19, please refrain from visiting Catalina Island. We all need to do our share to ensure the safety of others.
We also encourage guests with pre-existing conditions to suspend visiting the island temporarily due to their increased COVID-19 risk.
We are closely following The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and sanitation standards from Divers Alert Network (DAN) for all snorkel gear. Per DAN standards, all gear including mask, snorkels and fins will be effectively sanitized by submerging them in a disinfectant solution for 15 minutes and then rinsing with fresh water before each use. Effective disinfection means that re-use is no more of a risk now than any other time and re-use is always better for our environment than single use. We will also offer mask and snorkels for sale should a customer choose.
All guest and staff member touch points including all surfaces, railings, counter tops, paddles, kayaks, paddle boards and life jackets will be thoroughly cleaned before the first guest uses them and after each subsequent guest uses them.
Hand sanitizer will be available to all guests and staff throughout the day. We have installed a plexi-glass barrier at our counter and have marked the ground at 6 feet intervals to keep social distancing practices in place. All employees will wear protective face coverings throughout the day.
In addition to the steps outlined above, we are asking staff members who are exhibiting cold or flu-like symptoms to stay home and contact their healthcare provider.
We are encouraging guests to call ahead or book online to avoid unnecessary interaction during the check-in process.
There will be ample signage to direct our guests where to check-in for rentals, along with designated spots to stand while waiting in line to maintain proper distancing.
Currently, per the CDC, there is no evidence that COVID-19 thrives in seawater, pools or hot tubs.
During this time, many things are out of all our control, but again, the safety of our staff and customers is our main concern. We will do everything in our power to provide our customers with a safe, fun and memorable time on the water.
Thank you for your support, we look forward to welcoming you back to the Island.
